About Us

A Little History
China has seen the most dramatic expansion of educational opportunity in history. Fifteen years ago, about 1.5% of Chinese between 18-22 were in school; now it¡¯s almost 20%. At least 150,000 Chinese students are going overseas every year for education, and domestic MBA programs have graduated more than 80,000 students. Private universities have been formed all over the country, and publicly supported universities have for-profit divisions.
With this sort of explosion in the number and types of institutions, students have to be a little confused. Add to this new landscape an exploding educational service industry-language schools, test-preparation courses, educational placement counselors-and you have a dizzying universe of educational choice without any navigational tools.
At 6xue.info, we believe the best guides are the people who have already been there. We put together a software platform and an organizational structure, and Chinese students and professionals all over the world are filling it with useful comment on the schools they¡¯ve attended, the countries they¡¯ve lived in, the degrees they¡¯ve obtained, and what they would do over again if they had the chance.

What we do
6xue.info gives Chinese students an independent, non-partisan source of information about higher education around the world. We want to help Chinese studdents: they now have money, and they can choose among the best universities in the world. But going overseas is new to most people and comes along with a lot of anxiety about how to prepare, where to go, how to get in, whether it¡¯s all worth while. Because educational opportunity has expanded so much so fast, lots of Chinese students get advice from people who make money by sending students overseas. In contrast, we want to give students straight information that they can really use.
6xue.info is perpetually a work in progress, because the information comes from our readers around the world. When we post information (whether a new student review or an article from an ¡°expert¡±) we will encourage discussion and debate. Education is a very personal thing - one size doesn¡¯t fit all. We want to make it easy for our members to find high-quality advice that makes sense for them.
